Weekend Drive – Jebel Hafeet

We had a long weekend recently and I just could’t bear the thought of wasting it in the city like the other weekends. So I finally ended up doing something that has been on my list since quite sometime now,i.e. visit Jebel Hafeet(UAE’s second highest mountain peak after Jebel Jais).

Jebel Hafeet  is a part of  Al Ain, which itself is in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the UAE. It   is about 26 km long and 4-5 km wide, extending from north to south.

There are Hot Springs at it’s base where you find boiling hot water, it is a treat for people during winters here. There is a big play area and places to picnic there too. It takes about half an hour from the Hot springs to reach to the top of Jebel Hafeet, depending on traffic.

The weather up there is rather pleasant due to the altitude. You have a small cafetaria there, so it’s better to bring food from the Hot Springs which houses many restaurants as opposed to depending on what you get at the top.

Once at the top, you get a bird’s eye view of the city below and it looks magnificent when lit up at night.

You will find a lot of people setting up barbecues, dancing or just lounging on the seating area available. The beauty of visiting the place lies in spending the night there in order to witness the sunrise.img-20160912-wa00461
